The 32-year-old batter reportedly complained of having a burning feeling in his mouth and throat while traveling to Gujarat for Karnataka’s upcoming match against the Railways.
Just before he and his teammates were set to take off from Agartala for Delhi en route Surat for their next Ranji Trophy match against Railways starting this Friday, Test cricketer and captain of Karnataka Mayank Agarwal emerged victorious from a critical health crisis on Tuesday.
Team sources claim that Mayank mistakenly thought the spirit (a disinfectant and cleaning product) to be a bottle of water on the Indigo aircraft, which led to her consuming it.
After feeling an instant burning sensation, he is reported to have spat out the bulk of it. He was immediately taken off the plane and taken to a nearby hospital, where he is now being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU).
“Cricketer Mr. Mayank Agarwal was taken from the MBB Airport in Agartala this evening. He was complaining of some oral irritation and lip swelling, according to a press release from the hospital.
“He was admitted following an evaluation by the consultants at emergency. He’s being closely watched and is currently in a clinically stable state,” the report continued.
A medical emergency on board forced IndiGo flight 6E 5177, which was traveling from Agartala to Delhi, to return to its starting point. An official statement from IndiGo Airlines stated that the customer was offloaded and sent immediately to the hospital for additional medical attention.
However, Sportstar knows that the 32-year-old is safe and that there is no threat to his life at this time. After additional evaluation, Mayank will be sent to Bengaluru to begin the subsequent phase of her care.
The Karnataka squad missed their connecting flight to Surat because of the incident, which caused the Delhi-bound flight to depart Agartala only at 4:20 p.m. On Wednesday morning, the team will depart from Delhi via plane.
